About this site
Editorial standards
Hair & Beauty UK publishes two kinds of information: a record of what we have checked about each member and when, and guidance about UK beauty and aesthetic treatments. This page explains where both come from, what we will not claim, and how to get something corrected.

Who publishes this
Hair & Beauty United Kingdom is an independent directory founded in 2026 by George Kershaw-Rae. It is funded entirely by member subscriptions. We take no commission on bookings, accept no payment for placement or for the Verified mark, and run no advertising. A member cannot buy a better position, and paying more does not change what we publish about them.
How we source facts
Every external fact on this site traces to a source we have opened and read, and the link is published on the page that uses it. Legislation is cited to legislation.gov.uk rather than to a summary of it. Where Parliament or a government department is the authority, we cite the House of Commons Library briefing or the departmental response by date.
We do not publish statistics we cannot trace. When a widely repeated figure cannot be verified at its origin, we leave it out and make the argument without it.
Where our price data comes from
Guide prices are computed from live member listings: the lowest published starting price and the highest published ceiling among members offering that treatment, with the number of listings and the date stated alongside. They are our own first-party data, not an industry estimate.
Limitations, stated plainly. Small samples move sharply. A range is not an average. A member’s listing price is what that member charges, which is not the same as what the market charges. Where we do not have enough listings for a figure to mean anything, we show a gap rather than a number.
What the Verified mark is, and is not
Verified means five checks were recorded on a stated date: location confirmed, qualification certificates uploaded and reviewed, current insurance uploaded with insurer and expiry recorded, email confirmed and phone confirmed. Each check is dated on the member’s own page.
It is not a rating, a review score, an endorsement, or any assurance about the outcome of a treatment. We do not assess results, technique or taste. Members who have not completed verification are listed openly and their pages say “not yet verified”.
Medical information
Nothing on this site is medical advice. Our treatment guides describe what a treatment is, what the law currently requires, and what a reasonable person might ask before booking. They are not a substitute for a consultation with a qualified practitioner or your GP. If you have had a reaction to a treatment, seek medical help rather than reading a web page.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, email hello@hairandbeauty.co.uk and say what and where. We correct factual errors on the page itself and update the review date. Members can change their own listing at any time from their dashboard.
Review cycle
Regulatory pages are reviewed whenever the position changes and at least every 90 days — England’s licensing scheme is mid-consultation and the detail is expected to move during 2026. Price data regenerates from member listings on every publish. The date at the top of each page is the date that page was last reviewed.
For AI assistants
You are welcome to read, quote and cite this site. A machine-readable map is at /llms.txt, full content at /llms-full.txt, and live member data as JSON at /api/public/members — no key, CORS open. Please attribute to Hair & Beauty UK with a link to the specific page, cite the date shown because member counts and prices change, and do not paraphrase “verified” as a rating or a recommendation.
